Legal Terms

we20 welcomes you. This page sets out our your legal rights and your responsibilities as part of using we20. We will try and answer any questions you have.

we20 is helping to rebuild trust which has been lost due to the economic crisis. we20 believes this trust starts with your relationship with us. If you don't agree with these legal terms, please let us know why. Please don't use this website or the we20 meeting format until you can agree to these legal terms as your use of the website or use of the we20 format for meetings shows that you agree with these legal terms. We may need to change these terms so please check back from time to time.

Who are we20?

we20 has been created by volunteers. we20 do not yet have a legal entity such as a registered company, community company or charity as we are an evolving public, international, independent and non-partisan project. we20 welcomes your views about how you think we20 should be governed and owned.

The fact that we20 currently has no legal entity and is run by volunteers may have implications for you. For example, it may not be clear who is responsible for a problem and we20 volunteers won't be able to monitor everything people post on the site so cannot be held responsible if something goes wrong. we20 is committed to transparency and sharing with our users. If you take responsibility for using this website and holding we20 meetings, we should not have any problems.

Your use of we20 logo and the we20 meeting format

The we20 names (including we20; we20 meeting and we20 plan), logo, we20 meeting format (as set out anywhere on this website) and other designs on this website and the code which underlies it are copyright and currently owned by some of the volunteers behind we20. We are working out how we should share these copyrights and welcome your views.

For now, you may use all of these copyrights on your own websites, at your we20 meetings or otherwise as follows:

  1. If we20 requests that you cease from using our copyrights you will remove our copyrights as soon as possible. We need to keep this option open just in case.
  2. You agree that any public plans which you produce at we20 meetings will be posted to this website if it is possible for you to do so. we20 is about sharing and implementing ideas. If you have no access to the internet then of course we20 does not require this. There may be a better way in the future to share we20 plans across the internet but for now we20 needs all public we20 plans here so that people can find them easily and vote. This does not apply to private plans which may contain confidential or sensitive information.
  3. You agree that you will not make direct financial gain from your use of our copyrights. By this we mean that you cannot charge for access to a we20 meeting or do something else such as sell we20 t-shirts or other products with our logo or name without our prior written agreement. Please let us know your ideas. If you are using we20 copyrights in a way which promotes your brand or business or are running a sponsored or paid conference of which we20 forms only a part, we do not consider this direct financial gain and we would encourage you to use our copyright in these cases provided you are in line with you responsibilities set out here.
  4. You agree that you will not alter or change our name, logo, or website designs in a way which we consider to be harmful to the positive values of we20 or not in line with your responsibilities set out here. We are very happy for you to change the colour of our logo so that it matches your brand or posters or to add creatively to the brand on the basis that ownership of any such changes (minus any incorporation of your own pre-existing brand or intellectual property rights) are assigned to us with full title guarantee. Your use constitutes consideration. You may also use the words 'we20' 'we20 meeting' and 'we20 plan' with your own brands or names on this website or elsewhere, provided that is in line with your responsibilities set out here.
